Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month 2025

Each May, we recognize and celebrate the rich history, vibrant cultures, and invaluable contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities across the United States. AAPI Heritage Month 2025 is a time to honor the diverse stories that have helped shape our nation—and to uplift the voices that continue to inspire progress, unity, and innovation.

Why We Celebrate

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month began as a weeklong observance in 1978 and was expanded to a month in 1992. It commemorates two significant milestones in AAPI history:
📌 The arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to the U.S. on May 7, 1843
📌 The completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869, largely built by Chinese laborers

But this month is not only about history—it’s also about the present and future. From business and science to arts, education, and public service, AAPI individuals continue to make powerful impacts in every corner of society.
