Reflecting on Maundy Thursday: A Call to Love and Serve

by Ernest Van Glahn

Today, we pause to remember Maundy Thursday—a deeply meaningful moment in the Christian faith that reminds us of Jesus’ unwavering love and humility.

On this sacred day, Jesus gathered with His disciples for the Last Supper. But before sharing the bread and wine, He did something unexpected—He knelt down and washed their feet. This act of service, though simple in action, carried immense significance. In that moment, He taught them—and all of us—the true essence of servant leadership and selfless love. 🕊️

Maundy Thursday is more than a memory. It’s an invitation to live with compassion, grace, and humility. In a world often driven by status and pride, this day calls us back to the heart of what it means to love one another—through action, service, and genuine care.

Let’s take time today to reflect:

  • How can we lead by serving?

  • Who in our lives needs encouragement, support, or even a small gesture of kindness?

  • What can we do to bring light to someone’s day?

🌸 Whether it’s lending a hand, offering a kind word, or simply being present for someone in need, we are reminded that love isn’t just a feeling—it’s a choice we make in how we treat each other.

As Jesus said in John 13:34,

“A new commandment I give to you: Love one another.”

Let’s carry that message forward, not only today, but every day. May our hearts remain open, our spirits generous, and our actions rooted in love.

Wishing you a peaceful and reflective Maundy Thursday. 💫
