Celebrate the Feast of Epiphany!

by Ernest Van Glahn

Today, we join together to celebrate the Feast of Epiphany, a momentous occasion that commemorates the journey of the Wise Men to honor the birth of Christ. This day, often referred to as Three Kings' Day, invites us to reflect on faith, unity, and the guiding light that leads us toward hope and love. 🌠

The Story of Epiphany

The Feast of Epiphany marks the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles, represented by the Magi who traveled far and wide, guided by a bright star, to bring their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the newborn King. As written in Matthew 2:10: “When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.” This scripture reminds us of the immense joy and wonder that faith can bring into our lives.

Traditions Around the World

Epiphany is celebrated in unique and meaningful ways across cultures:

  • Prayers and Church Services: Many communities gather for special prayers and blessings, emphasizing the spiritual significance of this day.

  • Family Gatherings: Loved ones come together to share meals, exchange stories, and honor the tradition of unity.

  • King Cake: A sweet and festive tradition, King Cake is enjoyed in many households, symbolizing the kings’ journey. Hidden within the cake is a small figurine or coin, and whoever finds it is said to have good fortune or host the next celebration!

  • Chalking the Door: In some homes, families write a blessing above their door, inviting faith and goodwill into their space for the year ahead.

A Time for Reflection and Joy

The Feast of Epiphany is not just about looking back; it’s about embracing the present and moving forward with purpose. It encourages us to seek the light in our lives, whether through acts of kindness, moments of gratitude, or connections with those around us.

How are you celebrating Epiphany? Whether it’s through heartfelt prayers, cherished traditions, or simply taking a moment to reflect, this day is an opportunity to spread love and joy. 💛
